About Alerts

Imagine always having your finger on the pulse of the market, with immediate information about moves, trades, and trends. That is the purpose of using the Alerts feature.

Alerts are user-defined criteria that will trigger immediate visual or email notification when market activity meets the defined criteria. A triggered alert displays a detailed explanation of the exact conditions which led to the alert.

Example

You set a price alert for a specific symbol, specifying the "lowest price" for the commodity that you would like to see. If the last traded price falls below the price for which the alert is set, you will receive immediate notification in the Alerts Notification Window. Having this information may allow you to initiate a trade at your desired price.

You should experiment with alerts during trading hours to appreciate how they work, and to anticipate how you can use them in your trading strategies.

Visual alerts will appear in your workspace, once the alert has been triggered. For example,

An Email alert is forwarded to the email address you provide in the Alert Notification Properties. The subject of the email is "Price Alert", and the contents of the email will look like this:

SPM03.Last >= 846.9.

Current value: 847.90 at 10:39:20.

Note: Alerts are set individually on each tab within a Quotes Window. Once an alert is triggered, it is deleted. Untriggered alerts are saved when you exit the application and save your workspaces.
